The Township of Historic Strathalbyn is surrounded by hills, beautiful valleys and farmland that spreads for miles.
Strathalbyn is known for its many antique shops and is sometimes referred to as the unofficial ‘antique capital’ of South Australia.
Take a stroll down the busy, but beautiful High Street and seek out the many shops other than just antiques. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Strathalbyn has one of the most photographed churches in Australia.
St Andrew’s Uniting Church stands proudly in Albyn Terrace, and with its twin towers dominating the centre of the town can be easily seen from the balloon basket. From there take a 10 minute stroll along the river front and meet some of the local wild life.
Strathalbyn is also home to many different eating places and bakeries and not to forget its historic buildings & houses. Heritage listed buildings are home to a variety of art, craft, gift and antique shops. The Old Police Station and Courthouse is a National Trust Museum and a must see for anyone visiting the area.
For those of you that enjoy a glass of wine, Langhorne Creek wineries are among some of the best in Australia, most are open 7 days a week and owners and operators will make you feel most welcome and only 15 minutes from Strathalbyn.
