Goldrush Ballooning is an experienced outback balloon operator and has a background of scenic flights dating back to Birdsville in 2002. Chief Pilot Ian, flew also in William Creek prior to that.
We have operated in the Southern Flinders Ranges, Quorn and the Rawnsley Park area.
Last season, 2010, we operated in the Wilpena/Rawnsley Park area, however the lack of easy access tracks for retrieval and the changeable winds do not favour safe ballooning .
This year we have chosen a safer option, returning to our old operating area at Quorn. The season will run July to August.
At sunrise, watch as the landscape turns into a breathtaking view, of mountains and ranges for as far as the eye can see.
Be inspired by a landscape that has captivated poets and painters for generations. Marvel at Australian native wildlife and flora in its natural habitat. Or discover a land that's rich in Aboriginal culture.
TAKE OFF TIME
Your adventure starts when we meet an hour before sunrise. After making sure all our passengers are present, we then make our way to one of our many launch sites, the choice of which depends on the wind direction on the day.
INFLATING THE BALLOON.
At the launch site we inflate the balloon, even asking our passengers to be involved, this takes around half an hour. Once everyone is aboard your adventure begins, so have your cameras ready. Our ground crew will be happy to take photos of yourself in the balloon immediately prior to take off using your cameras.
AIRBORNE
Once we are airborne we fly for an hour taking in sensational views. Overlooking the Flinders Ranges, the photographer in you will emerge. The ever changing views will stay with you for life.
AFTER FLIGHT SERVICES
Regrettably we have a little bit more work to do, i.e. pack away the balloon and load it and the basket back onto the trailer, again with the aid of some of our passengers.
Some nibbles, a glass of bubbly or orange juice finishes the outing.
This gives you an opportunity to chat with each other about the wonderful experience you’ve just enjoyed.
WHAT TO WEAR?
The coldest you will be is when we first meet, and on the launch field, so we say "dress in layers" that way you can take a coat or jacket off and leave in retrieve vehicle.
We recommend a flat covered shoe like a boot or sandshoe. No sandals or thongs will be permitted nor will shorts or short sleeve shirts.
DO NOT WEAR ANYTHING SYNTHETIC (outer clothing only)
If confused about this please ring and speak to us.
